Government Requests for User Data

Effective October 6, 2026

Nerd Systems LLC (“Nerd Systems”, “we”, “us”), based in Houston, Texas, United States, operates Asto and its products: Asto Pro, Asto Chat, Asto Clock, Booking and Asto Shop, and the Asto app on the Meta (Instagram) platform. This policy explains what we do when a government agency, court, police force or other public authority asks us for data about the people who use our products. It applies to every such request, from any country.

1. Every request is reviewed for legality

Before we respond to any request from a public authority, we review it to decide whether it is lawful and valid. We require valid legal process, such as a subpoena, court order or search warrant, that applies to us and to the data asked for. A request that does not come with valid legal process is refused.

The only exception is a genuine emergency involving a risk of death or serious physical injury to a person. In that case we may disclose the information needed to prevent the harm without waiting for legal process, and we document the request and our reasons just as we do for every other request.

2. Unlawful or improper requests are challenged

If we find a request unlawful, overbroad, or otherwise improper, we do not simply comply. We refuse it, or we challenge it: we ask the authority to withdraw or narrow it, and, where appropriate, we use the legal remedies available to us, such as asking a court to set it aside or limit it.

3. We disclose only the minimum

When a request is valid, we disclose only the minimum data that the request legally requires — limited to the specific people, accounts, dates and types of data it lawfully covers. We do not volunteer anything beyond that, and we do not give any authority general or ongoing access to our systems.

4. Every request is documented

We keep a record of every request we receive, whether we comply or not. Each record includes:

  • the date the request was received;
  • the requesting authority;
  • the legal basis given for the request;
  • the data requested;
  • what was disclosed or refused, and why;
  • who at Nerd Systems handled it.

Telling the affected customer

Before we disclose any data, we notify the customer or user it concerns, so they have the chance to object or seek legal help, unless we are legally prohibited from doing so (for example by a court order). If we were prohibited, and the prohibition later ends, we notify them then.

How authorities should contact us

Requests for user data must be sent to [email protected]. Please include the legal process, the name and contact details of the requesting officer, and a precise description of the data sought.

Changes

We may update this policy; changes will be posted here with a new effective date. See also our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
